Nutrisystem Is Making Me GRUMPY!

in: health

I will blame Nutrisystem for my current mood. Over the last 9 days I’ve stayed so dedicated to this program. I’ve lost a few lbs. It definitely is motivating to continue … HOWEVER, I do not see anything wrong with eating something other than a Chef Boyarde tasting meal … yes they all taste the same. I want a steak … a big, fat, medium rare steak soaked in teriyaki sauce … I’m salivating.

Now for one meal, is that so bad? I don’t think so, I’m not giving up and quiting the diet, I’m just changing the flavor on my palate.

Additionally Brian sometimes makes me feel bad, I know that he’s just trying to be supportive and keep me motivated but right now is not the time. I don’t want his motivational guilt stricken talks, I want a flippin’ steak. Will someone please teach the man for me? I’m at my wits end.

Wednesday Hero - Spc Jeffrey Jamaleldine

This Weeks Hero Was Suggested By Mary Ann

Spc. Jeffrey Jamaleldine
Spc. Jeffrey Jamaleldine
Company C, 1st Battalion, 77th Armor

“How can I say to my sons, stand up for something, fight for what you think is right, if I don’t do anything myself?”

The Jeffrey Jamaleldine that you speak to today is a complete 180 from the Jeffrey Jamaleldine that you would have spoke to in the past. In 1991, Jamaleldin was living in Germany when joined in anti-American protests on Berlin’s Kurfürstendamm boulevard during Operation Desert Storm. “That was the way it was back then,” he says. He was 15 and “America was simply the enemy.” And today, Jeffery Jamaleldine is a wounded veteran of the U.S. Army. On June 6, 2005, after the terror bombing in Madrid, Spain, in the middle of the Iraq war, he showed up at the U.S. Army recruiting office in Little Rock, Arkansas, to enlist. His father, Bashir, told him at the time: “Son, this won’t be a picnic.”

On June 30, Jamaleldine was on patrol in Ramadi, Iraq. The patrol ahead of him had been ambushed by at least 70 combatants and were now under fire. During the fight, Spc. Jeffrey Jamaleldine was hit in the face by a bullet. In the end, the battle lasted into the next morning and the soldiers were able to stop the enemy from returning to Ramadi.

The article on Spc. Jeffrey Jamaleldine is five pages long, and I simply can not condense it down to only a few paragraphs. You can read the entire story here.

These brave men and women sacrifice so much in their lives so that others may enjoy the freedoms we get to enjoy everyday. For that, I am proud to call them Hero.

7 Days of Nutrisystem

Well, tomorrow is my 7th day on Nutrisystem…of course everyone knows that equals a week. So far the good thing I can say is that I don’t feel bloated as often because I’m not stuffing my face like I normally do when I eat. I can’t help it though, I LOVE FOOD. It’s a curse..or is it?

My feelings on Nutrisystem so far are good. I know that my Aunt didn’t like it at all but to each his own right? So here are a few of my pros and cons:

Cons:
1. Portion sizes are tiny…I’m use to eating a lot more than that
2. Some of the items are Chef Boyarde (SP) tasting.
3. Everything seems to have a tomato base (which so far not so bad but I’m not really suppose to eat tomatoes)
4. It’s kind of creepy how you don’t have to refrigerate anything

Pros:
1. The food in general tastes pretty good (maybe it’s just because I’m use to the taste of Chef Boyarde, you can blame my Mom!)
2. The food is already portioned for you.
3. You don’t really have to cook anything, zap it in the microwave and go!
4. Seems to work

I can say that if you ever try the program DO NOT and I will repeat DO NOT get the scrambled eggs. I’m not a huge fan of scrambled eggs anyway but these come in a powder form and you zap it in the microwave after adding water. Then you watch it puff up..kind of cool I guess..until you eat it. It does taste somewhat eggs but the second it starts cooling off, it gets rubbery and my spoon and fork couldn’t even cut through it. Luckily I traded that back in for the muffins.

My favorites so far:

1. Chocolate Peanut Butter Bar (of course!)
2. BBQ Soy Chips (these sounded disgusting at first but actually manage to taste like a chip)
3. Bean and Ham Soup
4. Thick Crust Pizza (Wish all my dinners were these)

So, I run out of stuff on April 30th. My goal is to lose 10 lbs by May 3rd. I hope I can accomplish it!

The Median Sib has been trying Nutrisystem too.

Paula Nelson Kicks a Drunk Off Stage

Paula Nelson is Willie Nelson’s daughter. She was performing at the Saxon Pub in Austin, Texas when a drunk got up on the stage and she literally kicked him off stage.

Here’s the catch … it turns out the drunk was her boyfriend who is a stuntman. They had set the scene up to fool a friend of theirs who was supposed to be in the audience that night. The friend didn’t make it so they uploaded the video to YouTube for him. And that is the rest of the story.

Top 13 reasons to lie

Thirteen Reasons to lie

1. Why admit defeat when you can simply say, “I forgot your present in my car.”.

2. She’ll never believe the red mark on your collar is a piece of candy.

3. Because the police officer doesn’t want to know how many drinks you really had or he will be doing paper work all night.

4. Because you don’t want the world to know how much you spent on a hooker.

5. I’m not admitting to it when its clearly his fault for not having a sense of humor

6. Because the noise came from your direction, but not even you can pretend it smells like roses.

7. If you tell them how much you really make, they will ask you for money.

8. If you say you have an extra bed room, they’ll use it.

9. Because you’re a real man and you don’t want to admit that you can’t take another shot of JD.

10. You really thought it was just going to be a fart.

11. Forgetting your wallet gets you out of paying.

12. Because if you say that any actress is attractive, you are in the doghouse.

13. Because saying “you were right, I was wrong and I’m sorry” is the easiest way to get out of a fight with your girlfriend/boyfriend.

Wednesday Hero - Soldiers Angels

This Weeks Hero Was Suggested by Kathi

Soldiers' Angels Living Legends Team
Soldiers’ Angels Living Legends Team
May No Soldier Go Unloved

Living Legends began in May 2005 with a very small team of seven dedicated angels. The team’s mission was to let the families and friends of fallen heroes know that we were here to support them and to honor their loved one. At the same time, they had to make sure that they were sensitive to what the family was going through. While this team has grown tremendously, they have worked very hard to maintain that same level of dedication and sensitivity. This team is staffed with trained volunteers who carry out a very difficult mission for Soldiers’ Angels. Due to their dedication, Soldiers’ Angels is able to honor those heroes who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation and to pay their respects and offer their deepest sympathies to the families and loved ones grieving the painful loss of their son or daughter; husband or wife; brother or sister; mom or dad; aunt or uncle; their friend.

For more information on the Soldiers’ Angels Living Legends Team, you can visit their site.

Sometimes a hero is one who sacrifices everything in their life to help others. And sometimes a hero is one who sacrifices nothing more than their time.

Manic Monday

If you could have any music group or musician play at a party, who would you hire? Hm..this one is tough because I like a lot of different groups but if I had to pick one that emcompasses a lot of different emotions and fun and funky songs.. I would have to say Train. I love almost all of their albums. Plus I could sing along!

Name three things to be happy about today.
1. I feel 10x better than I felt yesterday.
2. I got my laundry pretty much completed

How do you release frustration? I shout about it :-) and complain. I need to find a new means for releasing frustration. Maybe using the gym membership that I have.
